Police in South Birmingham are urging local youngsters to show boredom the red card and join them for some top quality football coaching. In partnership with Kickz football project, the football coaching scheme is looking set to expand in the Northfield constituency and officers want to see more local youngsters get involved.
Attendees to the project currently receive professional football coaching and training from Kickz staff and coaches from Birmingham City Football Club. Sessions are free to attend and are open to anyone between the ages of 10-17. There are three sessions a week:- On Monday and Friday evenings the coaching takes place between 7pm and 9pm at Turves Green Focus Centre (rear of Turves Green Girls School). The other session runs on a Tuesday evening between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Colmers Astro Turf, Birmingham Great Park.
PC Chris Turner, from the Longbridge neighbourhood team helps co-ordinate the scheme, said, “The Kickz project is proven to benefit the whole community, helps reduce anti-social behaviour and gives youngsters the opportunity to meet new friends and learn new skills. I would urge local young people to come along and give it a try. I can guarantee they will have a great time and the more people we get involved the more activities we can offer”.
